Bacterial wilt can be identified as the most serious disease. Plant which infected by the disease should be removed along with the soil. Surface irrigation should be avoided from areas where diseased plants are present. There is no chemical treatment for this disease. If the damage is severe, crop rotation should be done.

Root/neck/foot rot caused by fungi can also occur and management can be done using optimal moisture and recommended fungicides.
